Set Apart

Tonight Christina was set apart as a missionary!

A member of the stake presidency in my parent's new ward came over and shared a few words.  He told her that no missionary has ever been too bold in declaring the gospel. My dad reminded her to view everyone as a potential members (like President Monson talk from October 2012):

"The young [missionary] said that he attempted to baptize every person whom he met. He said that if he knocked on the door and saw a man smoking a cigar and dressed in old clothes and seemingly uninterested in anything—particularly religion—the missionary would picture in his own mind what that man would look like under a different set of circumstances. In his mind he would look at him as clean-shaven and wearing a white shirt and white trousers. And the missionary could see himself leading that man into the waters of baptism. He said, “When I look at someone that way, I have the capacity to bear my testimony to him in a way that can touch his heart.”

My mom told Christina to be fearless. Steve told Christina the three things he was told when he was set apart: "Be Bold, Be Obedient, and Be Humble." And the Bishop told her to be a missionary to other missionaries. That he felt she was sent to Arcadia to help other missionaries, as well as teach the gospel. I told Christina that she is already a great missionary and she will be a wonderful missionary.

Tomorrow I will go over in the morning to spend a few last minutes with her and then it will be off to the MTC! We will have fun because she can still drink soda and play games as a missionary.
